Music icon Susan Boyle has expressed she was "so incredibly touching" to learn that Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet named her among one of his biggest British heroes.
The American film star cited the Scottish singer alongside a select group of icons such as seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, fashion and football power couple David and Victoria Beckham, and music artist Fakemink.
"Her dreams were larger than life," he said, referring to her 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables. "Who wasn't moved by that?."
In response, Boyle stated she was "truly honored," continuing: "That period was truly unforgettable, and to know that audition meant something to you all these years on is genuinely humbling."
Boyle went on to say: "We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don't we? We should all dream big!
"I send you my best wishes as you continue to dream. Thank you for your generous words and for holding that time in such esteem. With love, Susan."
A Promotion with Purpose
Chalamet's remarks came while he was promoting his upcoming movie Marty Supreme. The film's tie-in effort has involved him giving branded jackets to icons from various fields he deems to be true greats.
Those honored have to date featured artist Frank Ocean, former NFL player Tom Brady, and Barcelona's Spanish wunderkind Lamine Yamal.
A Surprising Yet Inspired Pick
Boyle's mention was seen by many as an unlikely choice when the Oscar nominee was questioned which British personalities he would judge to be exemplary.
It is worth remembering that Chalamet was just 13 years old when Boyle shot to fame after captivating viewers and judges with her performance for Britain's Got Talent, a clip which became an instant internet phenomenon.
"That memory is etched in my mind," the actor noted. "That moment helped define the early YouTube era, you know."
