Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
